Survey of Bahnpost postmarks |
These cancels were used by the German postal service. For the Dutch postal service these cancels were used for mail to and from Germany making use of the Dutch railway network. In 1906 the introduction of a new oval stamp (tip oval) was decreed. However, this order came into effect only on new railway lines, or the stump oval stamps, when worn out, were to be replaced by the pointed oval stamps. In contrast to the stump oval stamps, which had plug-in types for date and train number, the ones with type wheels were adjustable for the pointed oval stamps. Below you find a number of examples of these postmarks. |
